The BMW M5 has been the leader in the performance saloon class since 1984 and this latest iteration keeps the M5 at the top step against increasingly tough competition.

The F90 M5 comes with a 617bhp 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 and, for the first time, BMWs xDrive all-wheel drive. The BMW M5 has always been known as the fast, rear-wheel drive saloon therefore when the xDrive was announced, it was deemed as a controversial step for BMW, however they have not stepped away from the majesty of the M5 as with the push of a button you can switch to rear-wheel drive. Rather than ruining the original recipe that was so well-loved, instead, you can have your rear-wheel drive M5 only now, you can have unmatched traction that no M5 before has been capable of.

As well as all of this incredible performance, the F90 M5 is the king of practical, useable performance cars as it includes every feature you would ever expect from a modern luxury saloon. With an extremely spacious interior that retains all the core 5 series roots, meaning there's an amazing 530 litres of boot space and of course, BMW's already phenomenal infotainment system has now been upgraded to includes both wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on top of the plentiful features already seen in the G30 5 series.
