2005 Ferrari Enzo

Named after the company's founder, Enzo Ferrari, the mid-engined Ferrari Enzo was developed in 2002 using Formula One technology, such as a carbon fibre body, the F1-style automated manual transmission, and carbon fibre-reinforced silicon carbide (C/SiC) ceramic composite disc brakes. It also has active aerodynamics, generating substantial amounts of downforce through its front underbody flaps, adjustable rear spoiler and rear diffuser. The Enzo has four-wheel independent suspension with pushrod-actuated shock absorbers which can be adjusted from the cabin, supported by anti-roll bars at both front and rear. As standard, it rides on 19-inch wheels framing substantial Brembo disc brakes.

The Enzo's rear mid-mounted ‘F140 B’ naturally aspirated 6.0-litre V12 features variable valve timing and Bosch Motronic fuel injection, and boasts a 8,200rpm redline. It produces 651hp and 485lb ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels via the ‘F1’ Graziano automated manual gearbox with paddle shift and steering wheel-mounted LED shift indicator lights. The gearbox has a shift time of just 150 milliseconds, resulting in a 0-60mph sprint time of 3.1 seconds, and a top speed of 218mph.

Designed by Pininfarina, a limited production run of 399 units was announced at the 2002 Paris Motor Show. The company sent invitations to existing customers, specifically, those who had previously bought the F40 or F50. In 2004, the 400th production car was built and donated to the Vatican for charity, which was later sold at auction.
