The Ferrari 296 GTB marks a significant evolution in Ferrari’s mid-engined berlinetta lineage, combining a compact, beautifully proportioned design with an advanced plug-in hybrid powertrain. Introduced in 2021, the 296 GTB is powered by a new 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6, marking Ferrari’s return to a six-cylinder engine in a series-production berlinetta while retaining the performance and character expected of the marque.
The V6 produces 654bhp on its own and is paired with a 165bhp electric motor integrated between the engine and eight-speed F1 dual-clutch transmission. Combined output stands at an impressive 819bhp and 740Nm of torque, enabling 0-62mph in just 2.9 seconds and a top speed exceeding 205mph. The 7.45kWh battery also allows the 296 GTB to travel up to 15.5 miles on electric power alone, adding a degree of everyday versatility to its formidable performance.
Ferrari’s focus on weight distribution and driver engagement is evident throughout the 296 GTB. Its aluminium chassis, sophisticated active aerodynamics, electronic differential and latest-generation Side Slip Control system work together to provide exceptional agility and traction, while the optional Assetto Fiorano package introduces further weight reduction, revised suspension components and additional aerodynamic enhancements.
