Unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Ferrari 458 Speciale is a high-performance version of the 458 Italia, featuring lightweight forged wheels, a vented bonnet, finned side sills, a taller rear spoiler and redesigned bumpers over the standard car, as well as active aerodynamics designed by Ferrari Styling Centre in cooperation with Pininfarina.
It features Ferrari’s side slip angle control (SSC), which performs instant analysis of the car's side-slip, optimising torque management in conjunction with the F1-Trac traction control, as well as torque distribution between the two rear wheels via the electronic differential.
The final Ferrari model to be powered by a naturally aspirated V8, the Aperta is a convertible variant of the Speciale limited to just 499 examples worldwide, of which just 49 are right-hand drive. At the time of its release, it was the most powerful road-legal, naturally aspirated convertible Ferrari had ever produced.
It is powered by a 4.5-litre naturally aspirated V8, producing 597bhp and 398lb-ft of torque, coupled to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with paddle shift. The result is a 3.0-second 0-62mph sprint time, and a top speed of 199mph.
