Power is delivered exclusively to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, providing an immediate and highly engaging response that has become synonymous with Lamborghini’s V10 supercars.
The result is a 0-62mph time of just 3.0 seconds, while top speed stands at 192mph.
However, the STO is about considerably more than straight-line performance. Its extensive carbon fibre construction, aerodynamic bodywork, rear-wheel steering and sophisticated chassis systems have all been developed with circuit driving in mind. Lamborghini’s CCM-R carbon-ceramic braking system provides immense stopping power, while the dedicated STO, Trofeo and Pioggia driving modes allow the character of the car to be tailored to different conditions and driving environments.
A sophisticated telemetry system also allows drivers to analyse their performance on circuit, reinforcing the STO’s credentials as a genuine road-legal racing machine.
