The Factory Options for the Porsche 918 Spyder

When the Porsche 918 Spyder was introduced, it represented the pinnacle of the company's engineering capabilities. Combining a naturally aspirated 4.6-litre V8 with twin electric motors, the hybrid hypercar delivered a remarkable 887PS while demonstrating that electrification could enhance, rather than dilute, the driving experience. Limited to just 918 examples worldwide, every car was already an exceptionally rare proposition before buyers even began exploring the extensive options list.

Unlike many limited production hypercars, Porsche offered customers an extraordinary degree of factory options through its Exclusive Manufaktur programme. From bespoke Paint-To-Sample finishes to lightweight performance upgrades and handcrafted interior appointments, buyers could tailor their 918 to an exceptional standard.

All option prices shown are the original manufacturer's list prices at the time of the vehicle's production.

Weissach Package – €67,300

The single most significant option available for the 918 Spyder was the legendary Weissach Package. Developed to maximise performance, this package transformed the character of the car by removing approximately 41kg through extensive weight-saving measures.

Beyond the more obvious visual changes, the Weissach Package incorporated a comprehensive programme of weight-saving measures throughout the car. Titanium components within the braking system, ceramic wheel bearings, a carbon fibre rear anti-roll bar and further CFRP elements all contributed to reducing mass. Inside, exposed carbon fibre replaced several traditional trim pieces, while Alcantara and flame-resistant materials created a cabin with a distinctly motorsport-focused feel. Together, these revisions removed approximately 41kg from the 918 Spyder, delivering sharper handling and an even more focused driving experience.

Magnesium wheels replaced the standard forged alloys, lightweight Alcantara trimmed the cabin in place of leather, titanium chassis bolts were utilised throughout, and numerous sound insulation materials were removed. Aerodynamic revisions included a larger carbon fibre rear wing and additional exposed carbon components, such as the rear bumper flicks.

Today, Weissach-equipped cars remain the most desirable examples on the collector market, commanding a significant premium over standard 918 Spyders.

Liquid Metal Exterior Paint – €45,000

Among the rarest options ever offered on the 918 Spyder was Porsche's extraordinary Liquid Metal paint finish.

Unlike conventional metallic paints, Liquid Metal is applied using nine coats of paint applied with high precision, the manual processing stages and a final three clear coats to give the paint extraordinary depth and reflectivity. The finish appears almost fluid under changing light conditions, giving the bodywork an almost polished metal appearance that continuously changes depending on the environment.

The application process was exceptionally labour intensive, requiring multiple preparation stages and specialist finishing techniques. Its rarity and complexity made it one of the most expensive paint options Porsche has ever offered on a production car.

Paint to Sample Programme

Alongside standard colours and the exclusive Liquid Metal finishes, Porsche also made the 918 Spyder available through its renowned Paint to Sample programme.

This service allowed customers to commission virtually any historic Porsche colour or create an entirely bespoke finish specifically for their vehicle. Each request required approval from Porsche's Exclusive department, with extensive testing undertaken to ensure the colour met the company's quality standards.

For collectors, Paint to Sample cars often represent some of the most unique 918 Spyders ever produced, ensuring no two examples need be identical. Combined with the vast selection of interior materials and bespoke detailing, the programme elevated the 918 from limited-production hypercar to individually commissioned collector's piece.

Magnesium Wheels – €28,300

Although included as part of the Weissach Package, the lightweight magnesium wheels carried an individual option value of €28,300.

Magnesium offers a significant reduction in unsprung mass compared to aluminium, improving steering response, suspension performance and overall agility. Producing wheels from magnesium is considerably more complex than conventional alloys, contributing to both their rarity and substantial cost.

Authentic Leather Upgrade – €22,700

The Authentic Leather Upgrade elevated the already impressive interior to an even higher standard.

Using softer, more natural leather with a distinctive grain, the upgrade extended premium hide across additional cabin surfaces while showcasing Porsche's craftsmanship. Crafted in Germany, the Authentic Leather interior utilised premium-quality hides produced using environmentally conscious tanning processes and organic pigments. The thicker leather enhanced both durability and occupant comfort, while its rich natural grain provided an elegant contrast to the 918 Spyder's carbon fibre construction and futuristic cabin design. As the leather aged, it develops a unique patina, ensuring each example acquired its own individual character over time.

Full Matte Black Film – €11,400

One of the more unusual factory options available was the application of a full matte black protective film.

Applied by Porsche before delivery, the film preserved the underlying paintwork while dramatically altering the appearance of the vehicle with a satin finish. This option was also accompanied by contrasting elements finished in carbon fibre. Unlike aftermarket wraps, this was installed to factory standards and designed specifically for the 918's bodywork.

Its dual purpose of protection and visual transformation made it an increasingly popular choice among owners intending to drive their cars regularly.

Front Axle Lift System – €8,500

Given the extremely low ride height of the 918 Spyder, the Front Axle Lift System quickly became one of the most practical options.

Using hydraulic actuators, the system raises the front suspension at the press of a button, allowing the car to negotiate speed bumps, steep driveways and ramps with significantly reduced risk of damaging the carbon fibre front splitter.

For many owners, it remains an essential option that greatly improves everyday usability.

Cabin Heating in E-Mode – €5,700

The 918 Spyder's hybrid drivetrain allowed the car to travel on electric power alone, but operating solely in E-Mode normally limited the availability of conventional cabin heating.

This optional system provided independent cabin heating while driving electrically, maintaining passenger comfort without requiring the V8 engine to start. It perfectly reflected Porsche's attention to detail in integrating hybrid technology into everyday usability.

Carbon Fibre Interior Package – €6,300

The optional Carbon Fibre Interior Package extended exposed carbon fibre throughout the cockpit, reinforcing the 918's racing-inspired aesthetic.

Finished in Satin Platinum, this wheel option added a subtle contrast against the bodywork while accentuating the intricate spoke design.

The understated finish became particularly effective when paired with darker exterior colours, offering an elegant alternative to brighter metallic wheel finishes.

Six-Point Race Harnesses – €2,900

Inspired directly by Porsche's motorsport programme, the optional six-point racing harnesses provided additional occupant security during track use.

While standard three-point seatbelts remained fitted for everyday driving, the harnesses reinforced the 918 Spyder's dual personality as both a road-going hypercar and a genuine circuit-focused machine.

Seatbelts with Contrast Stitch Border – €1,400

Even the seatbelts could be personalised.

The contrast stitched border introduced a subtle handcrafted detail that complemented the chosen interior colour scheme and demonstrated the extraordinary level of customisation available throughout the car.

Carbon Floor Mats – €1,100

Rather than conventional carpet mats, Porsche offered lightweight carbon fibre floor mats featuring leather edging and premium finishing.

Although primarily aesthetic, they continued the extensive use of carbon fibre inside the cabin while providing another distinctive detail for owners seeking the ultimate specification.

Painted Vehicle Key with Leather Pouch – €900

Completing the ownership experience was a body-coloured painted vehicle key, supplied with a matching handcrafted leather pouch with an embossed "918 Spyder" logo.

While modest in comparison with the larger options, it perfectly demonstrated Porsche's philosophy that every interaction with the 918 Spyder should feel special, right down to the key placed in the owner's hand.
