2016 Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2
Description
Key Points: Suspension Lifting System, Verde Mantis Exterior Paint, Sportivo Alcantara Interior
Introduced as a replacement for Lamborghini’s previous V10 offering, the Gallardo, the Huracán made its debut at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show. The name was inspired by the fighting bull ‘Huracán’ of the Spanish Conte de la Patilla breed, known for his outstanding courage and aggression.
The Huracán has LED headlamps, Iniezione Diretta Stratificata (IDS) fuel injection, Magneride damper control, carbon ceramic brakes and the ANIMA (Adaptive Network Intelligent Management) drive mode selector, consisting of ‘Strada’, ‘Sport’ and ‘Corsa’ settings, and which adjusts the engine, transmission, limited-slip differential, all-wheel drive system, magnetorheological suspension and electronic stability control accordingly.
Described by Car magazine in 2016 as ‘the best Huracán money can buy’, the LP 580-2 is a dialled back variant of the LP 610-4 with a detuned version of its 5.2-litre V10, producing 572hp and 393lb ft of torque, as well as a rear-wheel drive system as opposed to the all-wheel drivetrain found in the standard Huracán. Lamborghini claims the car will accelerate from 0–62 mph in 3.4 seconds, before reaching top speed of 199 mph.
The LP580-2 is 33kg lighter overall as a result of deleting the driven front axle, and the weight bias has also shifted slightly, from 43:57 front/rear to 40:60. The suspension has been re-tuned to suit, and the steering software has also been adjusted. Cosmetic changes include a different front fascia and larger air vents at the rear, for improved brake cooling.
